What I Actually Use

I started painting at 60 with no art background. These are the exact supplies I use — nothing fancy, nothing complicated. If I can figure it out, you can too. I kept it simple on purpose.

Winsor and Newton watercolor paint set

Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Sketcher’s Pocket Set

12 half pans with brush. Small, portable, and the colors are beautiful. This is the set I started with and still use.

“The colors are rich and they travel everywhere with me. Perfect starter set.”

Uni-ball white gel pen

White pen

Uni-Ball Signo Broad Point Gel Pen — White

Pack of 3. My secret weapon. I use this to add highlights, fix mistakes, and add those little details that make a painting pop.

“A white pen changes everything. Add it last and watch the magic happen.”

Frame

Threshold x Studio McGee 20" x 20" Antique Brass Frame

Matted to 5x7 inches — perfect for framing your 5x7 and 5x8 original watercolors. Gold leafing antique brass finish with a soft white mat. Looks so much more expensive than it is.

“This is the frame I use for my 5x7 and 5x8 paintings. It makes the painting look like serious art on the wall.”
