About the artist

I started painting
at 60.

Lynnie Broos, watercolor artist, Jackson Hole Wyoming

I picked up a paintbrush and some Winsor & Newton watercolors, having no idea what I was doing.

Pen first. Then paint. The risk of ruining the paper became part of the draw. Several paintings don’t survive. And then, one does.

I began out of pure curiosity, a new chapter in a life already full of chapters. I am a full time COO and I adore my job. I am a mom of four. I live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where the mountains make it hard to have a bad day.

Somewhere in the middle of all of it, I picked up a brush.

“I became an artist when I thought I was too old, too busy, and too late.”

Art captures my curiosity — pushing imperfection, funky lines and offbeat colors to create something unexpectedly strong. I paint buildings, doors, city streets, flowers, vegetables, and the everyday objects that most people walk past without a second glance.

I took online classes. I followed directions. I made a mess in public, especially in front of the people I love most. And somewhere along the way, I realized that sharing my process was as meaningful as the paintings themselves.

That’s why I post tutorials on TikTok every week. Not because I’m an expert — but because I’m proof that you don’t need to be. You just need permission to start. Simple shapes, loose lines, imperfect marks. That’s all it takes.

If you’re standing where I was — thinking you’re too old, too busy, or too late — this is for you. Come paint with me.
